Red is a powerful color so if you want to incorporate it into a room of the house it should be the living room. Red living room designs are always vibrant and full of life and they also make great entertainment areas. Red is also a warm color so a red living room would also be cozy and inviting.
You don’t necessarily have to paint the whole room in red in order to get the effect you want. You can simply use the red for accent pieces such as the pendant, the rug, the drapes, the decorative pillows etc. You also have the liberty of using several different shades of red like red-orange hues for the pillows or burgundy for the drapes.
Because red is such a powerful color it doesn’t have to be the dominant color in the room in order to get attention. A red living room design can also be mainly composed or white and neutral colors with only little accents of red here and there. The hard part is finding the balance between the colors.
Modern living rooms could benefit from large and vibrant accent pieces. A red sofa in the living room could be the perfect pop of color. If you want to create a more elaborated décor you can also combine red tones with blues and other pastel colors. It’s also indicated to use neutral colors for the rest of the décor when you decide to opt for a strong and vibrant accent color such as red.
Red would also look very beautiful when combined with black and white. Also, you can use red in combination with brown and blues to obtain a more traditional look. Orange-red is perfect for modern decors and brick red is perfect if you want to create a fresh cottage feel. As a result, red living rooms can be both warm and dynamic, cozy and vibrant.
